Wine-tasting routes for wine enthusiasts

Vignoble de Sancerre

At the pinnacle of gastronomy….and a rocky outcrop!
Sancerre is above all famous for its wines. The vineyards of Sancerre (AOC) cover nearly 3,000 hectares of hills, with vines as far as the eye can see. The Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes are grown here in perfect harmony with another local AOC speciality, the ‘Crottin de Chavignol (goat’s cheese).

The area is a wine-lover’s paradise
Pouilly-sur-Loire and Menetou Salon are right on the doorstep! There is also plenty for those who are interested in history and heritage: Aubigny-sur-Nère, the city of the Stuarts, Bourges and Vierzon, Gien, the capital of earthenware, and Nevers, are just some of the cultural visits and architectural marvels in the area.

Touring by car
From the wine-cellars of Sancerre to the cheese dairies of Chavignol and through the gourmet town of Pouilly-sur-Loire! Take a trip to Bourges and visit the cathedral, or do the Jacques Cœur route from Culan to Gien, via Bourges and Sancerre, and admire the 16 castles along the way.
